Sathya Sai Baba

Sathya Sai Baba was born as Sathyanarayana Raju on 23 November 1926 in the small village of Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh. From a young age, he was known for his unusual compassion, spiritual nature, and deep concern for the poor and suffering. At the age of fourteen, he declared that he was the reincarnation of Shirdi Sai Baba and began dedicating his life to spiritual teachings and service to humanity.

As his following grew, Puttaparthi became a major spiritual centre, and the Prasanthi Nilayam ashram became a place where devotees from around the world gathered seeking peace and guidance. Sathya Sai Baba emphasized that all religions ultimately lead toward the same divine truth. His central teachings were expressed through the values of Truth, Right Conduct, Peace, Love, and Non-Violence.

He was also widely remembered for his emphasis on selfless service. Institutions inspired by his teachings established hospitals providing free medical care, educational institutions, drinking-water projects, and numerous humanitarian initiatives. For devotees, his life represented the idea that spirituality should not remain only in prayer, but should be expressed through love, kindness, and service to others.

Sathya Sai Baba passed away on 24 April 2011 in Puttaparthi. Today, millions of devotees continue to remember him as a spiritual teacher whose message was simple yet powerful: love everyone, serve everyone, and see the divine in all.
