Sri Banashankari Devi, lovingly known as Banashankari Amma, is one of Bengaluru’s most revered forms of the Divine Mother. The Bengaluru temple traces its roots to the devotion of Basappa Shettar, who is traditionally said to have received the Goddess’s divine instruction in a dream and brought her idol from Badami to establish her worship in Bengaluru. The temple was formally established in the early 20th century and has since become an important spiritual landmark of the city.
According to the sacred legend associated with Banashankari Devi, the Goddess appeared as Shakambari to protect people from the demon Durgamasura. After a fierce battle, she defeated the demon and restored peace to the land. She is therefore worshipped as a powerful mother who protects her devotees, removes difficulties, and provides strength and abundance. The name Banashankari is associated with Vana (forest) and Shankari (Goddess Parvati), reflecting her ancient connection with the forest and nature.
This Divine Car Hang beautifully represents the majestic presence of Sri Banashankari Amma, making it a meaningful symbol of divine protection, courage, prosperity, and the loving grace of the Mother Goddess. It is a perfect spiritual companion for every journey and a thoughtful gift for devotees of Banashankari Devi.
