Sri Kollur Mookambika Devi is one of the most revered forms of Goddess Adi Shakti, worshipped at the ancient Sri Mookambika Temple in Karnataka. According to legend, the powerful demon Kamasura performed severe penance seeking divine powers. When he became a threat to the gods and devotees, Goddess Parvati appeared in the form of Mookambika and defeated him, restoring peace and righteousness. The name “Mookambika” is associated with the Goddess silencing the demon and ending his tyranny.

The sacred shrine is especially unique because the divine presence of Mookambika is worshipped as a manifestation of Parvati, Lakshmi and Saraswati together, symbolizing strength, prosperity and wisdom. The temple is also deeply connected with the spiritual traditions of Adi Shankaracharya, who is believed to have worshipped the Goddess at Kollur.
